Design Excellence, Competitiveness and Global Sydney
GA200+ is proud to be a partner in this event with UNSW and JBA, in support of the UNSW Faculty of Built Environment research project, Designing Global Sydney.
Designing Global Sydney research is situated at the interface of planning policy, urban design and planning history. It seeks to assess the contributions of design-led policy in reconciling economic imperatives with aspirations for quality public outcomes in the planning approvals processes for major commercial development in the Sydney Central Business District.
Through two panel discussions, this forum will explore the relative merits of several different approaches to design-led planning. Of the four distinct approaches outlined by the research team - design competitions, design review panels, design charettes and design codes - how, where and for what might they be applied in the NSW planning system? How might they help address Sydney's many challenges and capitalise on its opportunities?
